Between a Year and Forever

The Iliad and the Odyssey is an epic poem attributed to Homer, a blind poet, whose works had been known for greatness and had been the pattern of literature. The Iliad and Odyssey have two main female characters this are Helen and Penelope. Helen the daughter of Zeus and Leda, A spartan princess and a great lover. Helen have two well-known brother, Castor and Pollux, and a well-known sister Clytemnestra who murdered his husband Agamemnon because of the death of her daughter. Helen is said to be caused of the destruction of Troy. And Penelope, Queen of Ithaca, the loyal wife of Odysseus, King of Ithaca and the main character of the epic Odyssey.Penelope is famous for her cleverness and for her faithfulness to her husband.

If you have a chance on choosing either Helen of Troy or Penelope, Queen of Ithaca,.Whom will you choose?

Is it Helen the face that launched a thousand ships ? A rebellious and childish woman, a femme fatale, an spoiled princess of Sparta, A woman kidnapped in an early age and still been in love with her kidnapper and the wife of Menalaus who was abducted by Paris and endure the risks like death of many people and so much grief. But still the most beautiful woman in the world who have suitors like the kings and princes of other rich nations and whomever own her can be the king of the strong nation of Sparta, A woman that was secured by the strong Aegeans because of the Oath of Tyndareus and a daughter of the God of Olympus. Nevertheless Helen see love as an divine gift by Gods and that love is a treasure and worth fighting for.

Or...

Is it Penelope the clever and faithful wife Odysseus? The queen of Ithaca who is an extremely faithful to his husband Odysseus, a great mother to her son Telemachus, a good daughter-in-law to his husband's mother Anticleia and a very clever with unique beauty woman. She is faithful for 20 years(10 years of war with Troy and 10 years journey to his home) to his long lost husband that was doomed by Gods even though she had three royal suitors.

Helen and Penelope also have similarities like they both have royal suitors, they are well-known because of their beauty, they are a member of a royal family and they both love outrageously.

For the fairest

"Perhaps love is like an ocean, full of conflict, full of pain" - Shakespeare

I Paris, an prince of Troy, the judged of the divine contest of the Gods is obliged to answer the question "who is the fairest of them?" To be chose they offered me ownership of all of Europe and Asia, skill in battle, wisdom and the abilities of the greatest warriors, but I pick the offering of Aphrodite, the goddess of love, she offered the love of the most beautiful women in the world. Who is she ? She is Helen the face that launched a thousand ships. If there is a prophecy telling our love will cause a great destruction, a great war. Will I fight for it ? Will I ask her to come with me ?

Yes I will ask Helen to come with me to Troy because love is not finding someone to live with, it's finding someone you can't live without. Fearing the risk of loving someone is not love because love is the opposite of fear.

I am willing to defend my love for Helen no matter what it takes because I believe each person in the world is destined to be happy with the woman of their dreams. I will not let that woman slip away. I will bear all the consequences to live a life with happiness, for there is no happiness if there is no love. Even if loving her kills people, destroys families and causes grief, I will still love her because who fears to encounter the risks must not expect to obtain the love he desires.

Sportsmanship

I wanted to live life simple not joining any teams. any contests and not being popular. I just wanted to live silently it caused more happiness to me.

February 14-18 the days where the 26th Founding Anniversary of Taytay United Methodist Christian School (TUMCS) was celebrated. This is my last and most memorable foundation week as a student of TUMCS. I learned a lot at this week it makes my relationship in my fellow schoolmates closer.

It starts with the torch lighting and torch run ceremony to promote sportsmanship. After the ceremony we had an parade then the Mr. and Ms. Intramurals. The next is the crucial moments, the field demonstration, it has three divisions the cheer dance, the modern dance and the ballroom dance where I belong. The juniors stunned the audience and even the judges in there presentation. They won the 1st place in cheering and ballroom competition and still seniors won the modern dance competition.

The next three days is the most awaited event the "sportsfest". There were issues of cheating and dirty playing but still we seniors played fair, never give up, give our best for God's glory. Even though I hate stretching bones and sweating I played in IV-Solomon's basketball team to gain more experience and to develop a good relationship with my fellow students. Although we did'nt got the title "champions" in both basketball and volleyball for our last year in TUMCS we still did'nt look at it as failure but we look at it as an memories full of joy and an memory we will remember as time goes on.
